Montessori I (M1) (3 - 4 Years)

Program Overview

M1 focuses on refining the senses and preparing the hand for writing and the mind for mathematics.


1. Exercises of Practical Life

  • Fine Motor Skills: Pouring, spooning, threading beads.
  • Coordination: Walking on the line, carrying mats.

2. Mathematics (Introduction)

  • Introduction to numbers 0-10 using Number Rods.
  • Sandpaper Numbers (tracing symbols).
  • Spindle Box (concept of zero).
  • Writing numerals 0-20
  • Backward counting 20-1

3. Language

  • Phonics:Literacy development - focus on phonics, letter formation, writing uppercase and lowercase alphabets and vocabulary development
  • Sandpaper Letters tracing.
  • I Spy games for initial sounds.

4. Social and Emotional Skills

  • Learning to share
  • Turn-taking
  • Following simple instructions
  • Expressing emotions appropriately

6. Arts and Crafts

  • Creativity and imagination, hand-eye coordination

7. Dance

  • Boosting physical health, strength, flexibility, coordination and stronger bones
